In the afternoon of Tuesday, November 4, gunshots were reported in the area of Sand Lake Lane and Highway 133 in Cassville Township. A railroad worker reported the gunshots and seeing a suspicious truck in the woods. A subject was seen running through the woods in the area of the gunshots. A Grant County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene and located a male in the area, identified as 47-year-old Josey Faulkner of Patch Grove. Faulkner’s truck was located on property owned by BARD Materials, and two long guns were observed in the truck. Faulkner did not have permission to be on BARD’s property. Faulkner will be cited for trespassing, and the matter was referred to the Department of Natural Resourced for additional investigation into illegal hunting. BNSF railroad police shut down the railroad in that area for approximately 2.5 hours while the investigation was ongoing.
