Emergency responders responded to the Dubuque Airport for a fuel spill. On Wednesday, Dubuque Fire Department units responded to the Dubuque Regional Airport for a reported fuel spill within the tank farm. The spill was approximately 400 gallons of aviation gasoline, which remained contained within the designated containment area. Adjacent buildings were evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries were reported. Fire crews established a 150-foot exclusion zone, conducted air monitoring, and staged firefighting resources. Airport responders provided absorbent material, which Dubuque Fire personnel used to contain and remove the majority of the spilled fuel. The product was collected and relocated to a secure area for controlled vaporization. No hazardous conditions were detected during the incident. All Dubuque Fire units cleared the scene once mitigation was complete. The incident is under investigation and the cause is unknown.
