UPDATE:
There will be a visible law enforcement presence at Platteville schools on Tuesday following a bomb threat made on a social media app. According to a press release from the Platteville School District, School was cancelled Monday after a student reported receiving the threat as an extortion attempt on the social media app, Telegram. The Gant County Sheriff’s Department, Platteville, Police Department, and the School District determined the threat was noncredible, but cancelled classes Monday out of an abundance of caution. Classes will continue as normal on Tuesday, but there will be a visible police presence on each campus. An email from the school district to parents provided resources to help parents have conversations with their children about violence and school safety.
