One person is dead following a UTV crash in Darlington. Early Sunday morning, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a UTV crash with injuries in the 13000 block of Wildcat Road, in Darlington. Investigation revealed that at some time during the early morning hours a UTV was traveling eastbound on Wildcat Road, when the driver of the UTV failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver and lone occupant of the UTV, 55-year-old Mark A. Nelson of Potosi was partially ejected from the UTV and declared dead at the scene by the Lafayette County Coroner’s Office. Nelson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
