Gov. Kim Reynolds has announced Iowa’s participation in a new federal education tax credit program, aimed at expanding school choice for families starting in 2027. The program, part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, will offer a dollar-for-dollar tax credit up to $1,700 for taxpayers contributing to approved scholarship granting organizations. These contributions will fund scholarships for K-12 students from families earning less than 300% of their area median income. The Governor’s Office will collaborate with the Iowa Department of Education to certify organizations for participation in the program, which will be implemented in 2027.
