Jive Records is officially returning as a standalone label under the Sony Music umbrella, marking the revival of one of pop and hip hop’s most recognizable brands. The move was confirmed this week as part of a broader restructuring within Sony Music’s label group.
The relaunched Jive Records will operate in partnership with RCA Records, according to details shared by Sony Music Entertainment. Industry executives Mike Weiss and David Melhado have been named co presidents of the revived label and will be based in New York.
Both leaders report to RCA chairman and CEO Peter Edge, with the goal of rebuilding Jive as a frontline imprint focused on artist development. The announcement positions Jive as an active signing label rather than a legacy catalog brand.
