Two deaths from Wisconsin’s athletic scene this weekend. Former Brewers manager, Phil Garner and Badgers assistant coach, Craig Counsell both passed away over the weekend. Phil Garner, who was 76, passed away Saturday after a two-plus-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Garner managed in the Brewers from1992-99. He held the Brewers record for managerial wins until Craig Counsell surpassed him in 2022. Wisconsin football announced the passing of beloved assistant coach Henry Mason, who dedicated roughly 30 years to the Badgers. In addition to his role as an assistant coach, Mason served as a liaison to NFL teams and high school coaches. He was 70.
