Culture Club has released a new version of its signature hit Karma Chameleon, bringing modern technology into one of the band’s most recognizable songs. The updated recording arrives as Boy George celebrates his 65th birthday and introduces a fresh take on the 1983 classic.
The new release features newly recorded vocals from Boy George, with AI technology used to help recreate elements of the vocal tone associated with his younger years. The project was developed through a partnership with a music technology company focused on artist-led and ethical uses of artificial intelligence.
Boy George said the experience allowed him to reconnect with a defining moment in his career while approaching the song from a new perspective. The aim, he explained, was to honor the original recording rather than replace it.
