President Donald Trump said Wednesday he plans to approve millions of dollars in emergency aid to help Wisconsinites recover from severe storms in July. The president’s comments come over a month after Gov. Tony Evers formally requested a disaster declaration. Trump posted on Truth Social Wednesday that the approval of the aid comes after a conversation he had with Congressman Tom Tiffany, the Republican candidate for Wisconsin governor. Trump said he told Tiffany he will approve $17.9 million for the severe storms and tornadoes Wisconsin experienced. Evers responded on X that Wisconsites will believe it when they see it and that President Trump and Congressman Tiffany are playing politics with emergency aid.
