The driver of a milk truck suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday afternoon when the vehicle spun out of control due to icy conditions County Highway J in Green County Reports say the driver was negotiating a curve in the roadway while traveling down a hill. When the driver hit a patch of ice, the truck spun around, crossed the centerline and left the roadway. The vehicle continued into a ditch on the east side of the road where it hit an embankment. The truck overturned and the tank separated from the truck. The tank came to a rest upside down as the truck continued to turn, eventually landing on its tires in the roadway. Officials said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver, who was not named, was initially transported to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room and was later taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.The Green County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe police and fire departments, Green County emergency medical services and wardens from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene.
