A Clayton County man was taken by helicopter to a La Crosse hospital after a single-vehicle crash near Wauzeka. According to a Crawford County Sheriff’s Office report, 24-year-old Hunter Slaght of Farmersburg was driving west on Highway 60 about 9:45 Monday morning. Deputies say Slaght lost consciousness, causing his vehicle to cross the center line and enter the ditch. The vehicle continued thru a fence and came to rest in the Little Kickapoo River creek bed. Emergency crews assisted Slaght out of the vehicle and transported him to Crossing Rivers Health. He was later air-lifted to Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse. Authorities did not list what caused Slaght to lose consciousness – nor did they indicate the severity of his injuries. His vehicle received major damage and was towed from the scene.
