A pair of streets in Darlington will be closed on Wednesday morning as the Highway 23 work continues. According to a release, East River Street and Alice Street will be closed Wednesday from 6a til noon. This closure is to allow concrete trucks in and out of the work zone as crews will be pouring materials for a new deck on the east half of the bridge.
Also – project officials say that starting Friday (July 23), traffic will switch to the east side of Main Street. Both lanes of traffic will be shifted to the new asphalt on the east side of Main from Alice Street to Harriet Street. There will be a traffic crossover between the bridge and Alice Street until the east half of the bridge is completed.
