A 19-year-old Avoca man flipped his vehicle repeatedly after hitting a railroad crossing at a high speed early Sunday. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports that Mason Herreid hit the crossing near Pine and Taylor Roads in Muscoda Township around 4:15am. Herried lost control of the vehicle and rolled it several times before coming to rest on its roof on private property. Deputies say Herreid and a passenger – 18-year-old Caitlyn Mindham of Blue Mounds – were able to get out of the vehicle. Following an investigation, Herreid was cited for operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, operating after suspension, and obstruction. He was arrested and later released to a responsible party. Muscoda Fire and EMS assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
