MADISON, Wis. — The Badger defense will face its first test of the season on Saturday: Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford.
Clifford threw 23 touchdowns in 2019, when the Nittany Lions went 11-2 and won the Cotton Bowl. Last year he struggled, and his team lost the first five games of the season.
The Badger defense is counting on Clifford returning to his 2019 form, and that’s what they’re preparing for.
“Look at last year. It was a crazy year, he had his ups and downs,” Badgers linebacker Jack Sanborn said Wednesday. “He’s obviously proven himself in the Big Ten.”
