One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday in Grant County. The Grant County Sheriff’s Department did not release the name of the “involved party” that was taken by ambulance to Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster for evaluation. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 81 northeast of Beetown. A vehicle driven by 75 year old Gabriela Uribe of River Grove, Illinois was stopped at the stop sign on Highway 81, then started making a left turn onto Highway 35. Her vehicle was hit by a southbound vehicle driven by 51 year old Sung Hong of Lancaster, who was unable to avoid the collision. Hong’s vehicle then hit a guardrail and went down an embankment. Uribe was cited with failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn.
