Two Vehicle Crash in Belmont Sunday

A child was injured in a two vehicle crash Sunday in Belmont. The accident happened on East Platteville Avenue around 5:30pm. According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, 32 year old Jose Moncada-Rodriguez of Belmont was traveling east on East Platteville Avenue when his brakes failed, causing him to rear-end a vehicle driven by 30 year old Desiree Tschantz of Platteville. As a result, a juvenile passenger in Moncada-Rodriguez’s vehicle was injured and was taken to Southwest Health in Platteville for non-life-threatening injuries. Moncada-Rodriguez’s vehicle had severe damage and was towed from the scene. Tschantz’s vehicle had minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Belmont Fire Department, Belmont EMS, and Southwest Health EMS assisted at the scene.
