A southwest Wisconsin man, killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor, will receive a burial ceremony next month. The US Defense POW-MIA Accounting Agency announced the service for 23-year-old Harold Carney of New Diggings. Carney was a Navy Machinist’s Mate assigned to the USS Oklahoma when the ship was attacked in December 1941. He was among the nearly 430 crewmen who died. Scientist were able to identify his remains more than 70 years later. His family was recently given a full briefing. A burial is planned for November 6th in Benton.
