Pregnant Woman Hit By Rolling Car

Darlington Police say a pregnant woman suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle Sunday evening. According to a police report, emergency crews were called around 7:45 to the 800 block of Galena Street in Darlington. Officers say an unoccupied vehicle rolled down a private driveway, into the street, and hit 31-year-old Ericka Chavez. Chavez, who is 7-months pregnant, was taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and later transferred to UW Hospital in Madison via Med-Flight. The condition of Chavez and her unborn baby are not known at this time. The incident is under investigation.
