A 37-year-old woman and a 9-year-old child suffered minor injuries after the vehicle they were in was hit by a semi. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports Lacy Nelson of Mount Hope was stopped along Highway 18 waiting to turn onto Klinkhammer Lane last Friday afternoon around 4:15. Authorities say a semi, driven by 34-year-old Ameen Abuawwad of Burbank, Illinois, did not react in time and crashed into the rear of Nelson’s vehicle. According to the sheriff’s office, Nelson and the 9-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. They were both taken to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien. The crash remains under investigation.
