Road construction on the Highway 81 project on Main Street in downtown Darlington, including the Main Street bridge, is nearing completion. Final asphalt work will occur Saturday and Monday. The bridge will reopen Wednesday. The road closure and detour signs will be taken down. Parking downtown may reopen as soon as Friday and street lights on each side of Main Street will be operational on Friday. The work is contingent on the weather. A ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration is scheduled for Saturday, November 27th.
