Two People Injured in Crash in Platteville

Two people were hurt Friday after a two-vehicle crash in Platteville. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on Highway 80, two miles north of Platteville. Officials say 47-year-old Jennifer Day of Stitzer was driving south in the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a northbound dump truck driven by 61 year old Jerald Thomas of Garnavillo, Iowa. A report says Day was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by the Platteville Fire Department. Deputies say both Day and Thomas were taken to Southwest Health by Southwest Health EMS. Day was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated and cited for operating left of center. The crash remains under investigation.
