Some new information from the National Weather Service has been made available on the tornado warnings from last weekend. The NWS announced Thursday they cannot confirm any tornadoes touch downs in Lafayette, Grant, or Rock counties this past Saturday. In Lafayette County, the same cell that produced a tornado in Warren, Illinois was only a funnel cloud by the time it got into southeastern Lafayette county. Funnel clouds were also seen west of Lancaster Saturday afternoon. Due to safety concerns from the pandemic, the NWS will not do on-site surveys for potential weak tornadoes and will continue to rely on information from local emergency managers and storm spotters instead.
