A Springfield Missouri man recently executed a prank that turned into a nationwide fundraiser to battle childhood hunger. Kyle Scheele worked with friends to create a cardboard cut-out of himself playing a ‘pizza guitar’, with the words: “Kyle Scheele, Meal Deal!” written on it. He then secretly placed the cardboard cut-out inside his local Kum & Go gas station as a joke (he wanted to see how long it would stay up until staff noticed it, and if anyone would ask about the fake meal deal). Well, the corporate offices of Kum & Go caught wind of it and decided to do an ACTUAL “Kyle Scheele, Meal Deal” with a portion of the proceeds benefitting: “No Kid Hungry” (a charity aimed at ending childhood hunger). The meal consists of a 12 oz Red Bull, and a ‘pizza sandwich’ (two slices of pizza sandwiched together). Red Bull has since also pledged a donation to the charity up to $10,000! You’ve heard the term ‘Jukebox Hero’, well now we’ve got a ‘Gas Station Pizza Hero’…not the hero we wanted, but the hero we deserve!
