It’s a new year, but drivers are still feeling the same pain at the pump, as high gas prices remain. After rising slightly in the last week, the average price of gas in Wisconsin is $2.97, according to GasBuddy. In Madison, where gas prices didn’t change over the last week, the average price is $2.94. According to Gas Buddy, gas prices haven’t been this high on January 3rd since 2014, when drivers were paying $3.24 a gallon. Gas prices in Wisconsin are down about eight cents in the last month, but are around 84 cents higher than this time last year. Still, Wisconsin drivers are paying less than the national average price of gas. GasBuddy reports the national average price of gas is currently $3.27 a gallon.
