The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an incident on Saturday in which a horse pulling an Amish buggy collapsed in the middle of Highway 18 just east of Fennimore. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Fennimore Police Department responded to the scene. Upon arrival, it was reported that the horse collapsed due to heat and had been pulling a buggy with three individuals. The Fennimore Fire Department responded to the scene and dispensed several gallons of water on the horse in an attempt to cool the horse and save its life. However, the horse died at the scene.
