The Prairie du Chien K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on South Marquette Road Saturday shortly after 5pm. During the course of the traffic stop, K-9 Phoenix was utilized to conduct a free open-air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Phoenix indicated to the presence of the odor of controlled substances from within the vehicle. As officers were searching a passenger of the vehicle, they found Methamphetamine and a large amount of US Currency. The passenger, 30 year old Christian Weber of Prairie du Chien attempted to flee on foot. Officers utilized a Taser and Weber was arrested. A subsequent search of the vehicle also found a .22 caliber revolver with ammunition. After Weber was treated and released at a hospital, he was taken to the Crawford County Jail where he is currently being held on $1,000 cash bond, a Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation hold and has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer. This is still an ongoing investigation and further charges may occur.
