Mercilus, who spent the past season with the Packers, thanked the team for accepting him with “open arms.”
“Playing for this organization in the historic Lambeau Field will be something I will never forget,” he said. “The spark I felt the moment I stepped foot onto Green Bay will be with me forever.”
Mercilus spent nine of his 10 years in the NFL with the Houston Texans after they drafted him in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He appeared in 138 regular-season games in his career, recording 362 tackles and 13 forced fumbles. He appeared in only four regular-season games with Green Bay, and made 5 tackles.
