Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue touted the state’s solid economy during a round-table session in Platteville on Tuesday. Among the presenters was Department Secretary Peter Barca. He says Wisconsin’s fiscal health is the strongest it’s been in 50 years. The state will have a $3.8-billion dollar surplus at the end of this biennium, and he says Wisconsin ended the latest fiscal year with its highest-ever positive balance. The Department of Revenue also directed $100-million dollars in federal pandemic aid to support Wisconsin farmers – and helped more than 100-thousand small businesses state-wide.
