It was a rough start for Aaron Rodgers, who completed only four of his 11 first-half passes. He bounced back however and ended with 21 completions for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
Running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon put the Packers in a good position, combining for 183 rushing yards, but it was rookie wide receiver Christian Watson who tallied the only rushing touchdown, his first regular-season touchdown as a Packers.
The Packers managed four sacks and forced a fumble.
Missing starter Mac Jones, the Pats turned to Brian Hoyer to take the reigns at quarterback. But after Hoyer got injured, rookie Bailey Zappe was forced to come in for an impromptu debut. He handled it well, completing 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Patriots running back Damien Harris also caused problems for the Green and Gold, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown. The New England defense won the turnover game, forcing a fumble and a pick-six.
Both teams were rather undisciplined, with the Pats committing 7 penalties for 75 yards and the Packers committing 4 for 40.
The win moves Green Bay’s record to 3-1. They now prepare for their first ever trip across the pond, as next Sunday’s game sees them take on the 3-1 Giants at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Kickoff is at 8:30 a.m. CT.
