On Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers stays silent on future with Packers

“We had all the conversations we wanted to have about football for now,” Rodgers said. “They’re not pressing for any type of specific answer, and I’m not mentally or emotionally at that point.”

Rodgers is coming off a season that saw him throw his most interceptions since 2008 and miss the playoffs for the first time since 2018. He also recorded his lowest amount of passing yards since 2017.

While the season ended on a sour note, Rodgers still took away some positives, including the growth of rookie wide receiver Christian Watson. Watson struggled at the beginning of the season, but found his footing and became one of Rodgers’ top targets by the end of the season.

“To watch that evolution from a guy that was really having a hard time catching the ball to becoming a legitimate threat in the NFL, that’s so much fun to see,” Rodgers said. “Watching him progress is going to be fun.”

When speaking to McAfee about making a decision, Rodgers said there are lots of aspects at play, including what the team is doing.

“It’s the physical part, it’s the emotional part, it’s the spiritual part,” Rodgers said. “It’s also the situation, and where the team is at, and the focus moving forward.”

He didn’t rule out the possibility of leaving the Packers.

“I think I can win MVP again in the right situation,” Rodgers said. “That right situation – is it Green Bay or somewhere else? I’m not sure.”

Rodgers indicated a desire to continue playing with other Packers whose futures in Green Bay are uncertain, including Marcedes Lewis, Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard and David Bakhtiari. He also made it clear that he will not be part of a rebuild, should the core members of the team not be re-signed.

Rodgers said he needs time to make the decision, but once he does its will be definitive.

“I’m either all in or I’m all out.”

Rodgers will be back on the Pat McAfee Show next week, but will not have made a decision at that point.
