An ice storm warning is covering a significant portion of the area beginning today. The National Weather Service issued the warning today to 6 p.m. Thursday for a large area that includes Clayton, Delaware and Dubuque counties in Iowa; Grant and Lafayette counties in Wisconsin; and Jo Daviess County in Illinois. The National Weather Service warns that significant icing is expected, as snow and sleet hit the area, along with wind gusts of up to 45 mph. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice and strong winds. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the commutes Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Travel is strongly discouraged. Crawford and Iowa counties in Wisconsin will be under a winter storm warning.
