Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers visited the Platteville Public Library Monday to participate in a roundtable discussion on housing. Evers recently announced a statewide plan to ensure safe, affordable housing and rental units in his 2023-25 biennial budget proposal. The governor’s plan includes a comprehensive, multi-pronged package of initiatives designed to address the unique challenges facing Wisconsin renters, including renovating existing housing, improving rental unit safety, providing legal aid for evictions, and expanding renter protections. Evers will need to come into agreement with the Joint Finance Committee to invest the money into his proposal. Prior to the roundtable, Platteville Library Director Jessie Lee Jones took Evers and WHEDA Executive Director Elmer Moore Jr. on a tour of the Library.
