The Dubuque City Council on Friday approved an updated agreement for the funding structure of the county’s new proposed 911 emergency communications center. The new agreement splits the cost of operating the emergency communications center evenly between both the county and the city. Previously, the county was only liable for one-third of its operational cost. The agreement will also require the city to pay $2.5 million for the county to move the emergency communications center into a portion of the former Medline building. The total cost of that move is estimated at about $5 million. The agreement was approved by the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors earlier this week.
