Friday marked the tri-state area’s second winter storm of the week, bringing a total of 7.4 inches of snow to Dubuque Regional Airport by 6 p.m. Snowfall was expected to continue into early this morning, dropping several more inches before tapering off. By early afternoon Friday, 3 inches of snow had fallen in Platteville, Wis., according to the National Weather Service. And in Woodbine, Ill., 7 inches of snow had been reported at 4 p.m. High winds were expected to continue this morning, and a blizzard warning remains in place through noon today across the region. Travel is not advised for the entirety of the warning due to anticipated issues with visibility and drifting snow. Area law enforcement reported some slide-offs Friday morning but said traffic across the tri-state area was relatively light and most people appeared to have avoided traveling. Temperatures are expected to dip below zero this evening and are likely to remain there until Wednesday. Nighttime wind chills are predicted to reach 35 to 40 degrees below zero with relatively slight relief during the daytime hours.
