Wisconsin Receives Grade of “F” In Tobacco Control Report

Wisconsin received two F’s in the American Lung Association’s new State of Tobacco Control report. Wisconsin was given an F grade for tobacco prevention and cessation funding. The other F was given for flavored tobacco products. The state got Ds for tobacco taxes and access to cessation services. Wisconsin fared much better in terms of smokefree air, receiving a B grade in that category. The report also shows 14% of Wisconsin adults smoke. Additionally, 16% of high schoolers use tobacco products. Overall, the state loses nearly 8,000 people to smoking-related causes each year.
