Fire crews responded to a nursing home in Black Earth early Thursday morning. At first it was believed to be a fire, but it turned out to be an odor investigation, and fire officials didn’t find anything. According to Dane County Communications officials, the call came in at about 2:35 a.m. from the Heartland Country Village. Multiple departments were called to the scene, including Black Earth, Mazomanie and Cross Plains. Someone who works at the nursing home reported haze and the smell of smoke in the building, but no flames. The nursing home administrator confirmed that it was an odor investigation, and that the fire department didn’t find anything.
