An upcoming documentary called Playing POTUS will delve into the world of notable comedians who have famously portrayed political figures, including Dana Carvey, Maya Rudolf, Will Ferrell, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key and more. Director Josh Greenbaum’s exploration of presidential parodies, which delves into the significance of these portrayals, will also include appearances from Jimmy Kimmel, Darrell Hammond, Jay Pharoah, and political strategist James Carville. “The film will tackle the uniquely American tradition of presidential parody, a bold art form that has transformed our perceptions of real-world presidents and politicians for the past 60 years,” notes a release about the project. “[T]hese iconic impressions have an outsized and lasting impact on American politics that has gone completely unexamined…until now.” (Deadline)
