Tyler Perry’s debut series on Netflix, Beauty In Black, has garnered 8.7 million views since its premiere on October 24th, making it the streamer’s top performing English-language show. Featuring Taylor Polidore Williams as Kimmie and Crystle Stewart as Mallory, the series centers around two women with divergent paths in Atlanta, connecting a wealthy Black family in the hair care industry with an exotic dancer from a famous strip club. “I was told many times over many years that Black entertainment doesn’t travel throughout the world. So, to have Netflix continue to disprove that over and over with everything I’ve put on the platform has been phenomenal,” Perry said. (UPI)
