When the Grammy nominations were announced on Friday (November 8), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings were recognized with a Best Folk Album Grammy nomination for their new album, Woodland, alongside a Best Americana Performance nod for “Empty Trainload of Sky.” The duo are capitalizing on that notoriety by announcing their plans for a 25-date US tour in 2025. The jaunt starts off in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 28th, then hits major music markets on the west and east coasts of the US, before winding down in Nashville on May 22nd. Welch and Rawlings still have a 15-date tour scheduled before the end of 2024, which begins on November 20th in Louisville and finishes up on December 8 in Tysons Corner, Virginia. The Grammy-winning duo also have an Australian tour set for early 2025, which includes a prestigious three-night stand at the legendary Sydney Opera House on January 23-25. (Consequence of Sound)
