A winter weather advisory has been issued for many Wisconsin counties tomorrow. In a Facebook post from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, County Highway Commissioner Craig Hardy explained how plows will be deployed in Iowa County. With the exception of freezing rain or ice events, the Department will operate on the County Trunk Highway System between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. During non-operating hours (8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.), responses due to emergency situations may be coordinated with law enforcement. On weekends, the Department will begin operations only after there is a snowfall event of greater than 2 inches or freezing rain/ice conditions.
Class 1 Service is provided on USH 151/18 and STH 18 between Montfort and Dodgeville. This means the department operates 24/7 from the onset of a storm until its completion and subsequent cleanup.
Class 2 Service is provided on all other state trunk highways in the county, including STH 14, 23, 39, 80, 130, 133, and 191. Snow and/or ice events on these roads will be attended to during an 18-hour window, between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
