‘Anora,’ ‘Didi,’ Win Big At The Independent Spirit Awards

The 40th Film Independent Spirit Awards were held, showcasing low-budget films and TV shows. Sean Wang’s Didi won Best First Screenplay and Best First Feature, while Maisy Stella (My Old Ass) and Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer) were honored for Best Breakthrough Performances in a Film and a New Scripted Series, respectively. Other winners included Jesse Eisenberg for Best Screenplay and Kieran Culkin for Best Supporting Performance in A Real Pain, and Sean Baker for Best Director and Mikey Madison for Best Lead Performance in Anora. Nickel Boys won Best Cinematography, September 5 for Best Editing, and No Other Land for Best Documentary. (AV Club)
