On Thursday at approximately 8:41 PM Grant County Dispatch received a call from a subject later identified as 29-year-old Taylor Brown of Muscoda, who stated that he was going to end his life on the Muscoda bridge. Within minutes officers were on scene and made contact with Brown. Officers on scene and dispatchers negotiated with him until negotiators from the Southwest Wisconsin Emergency Response Team Negotiations Unit arrived. After approximately two and a half hours Brown was taken into protective custody for a mental health evaluation. Muscoda Police Department was assisted by deputies from Grant, Richland, and Iowa County as well as officers from Platteville and UW Platteville who are part of the negotiations unit. Muscoda and Boscobel fire departments assisted with traffic control and stood by with their rescue boats and swift water personnel. Traffic on the Wisconsin River bridge was rerouted during this incident.
