On Wednesday at approximately 1:53 a.m., a Crawford County Sheriff conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Highway 61 and County X in the Township of Clayton. The driver was identified as 21-year-old Kane Groom of Steuben. During the traffic stop, Prairie du Chien Police Department K9 Sheisty was utilized and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle. A vehicle search ensued, and methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were discovered. Groom was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and bail-jumping. Also, Groom was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, failure to have insurance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
