Congressman Derrick Van Orden presented a military service award. U.S. Army flight officer Joseph Schuster was killed during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge. Tuesday the family received the gold star awarded to him for his sacrifice. Schuster’s daughter Mildred “Billie” March says this gesture helps her feel closer to him. “Theres never been a day in my whole life I haven’t thought about him,” said March. Van Orden says all those who serve and their families need to be recognized. Van Orden says this is the first time he’s presented a gold star and that it’s one of the most emotional experiences he’s had during his time in congress.
