A Dubuque man was sentenced to two years of probation after he caused about $8,000 in damage to a vehicle in Dubuque. 47-year-old Johnny T. Webb recently received the sentence from District Associate Judge Mark Hostager in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to a charge of third-degree criminal mischief. Webb had been charged with second-degree criminal mischief but pleaded to the lesser charge. A related disorderly conduct charge was dismissed. Court documents state that police responded to the 500 block of Rhomberg Avenue about 2 a.m. May 8 for a report of a damaged vehicle. There, officers met with a woman who said she returned to her residence to find her car “destroyed” and that neighbors had told her a man, later identified as Webb, “took a baseball bat to the vehicle … intentionally backed his truck up into the car causing damage and punctured all 4 tires,” documents state. Total damage was estimated at roughly $8,000.
