A new locally-owned grocery store is set open in the downtown area of Mineral Point, officials announced in a release on Tuesday. Located on High Street, the new store called Staple and Fancy will feature local food products. The space, which used to be a medical office building, will be renovated into a grocery space on the ground floor and will have six residential rental units on the upper level. Partnering with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corportation (WEDC), the grocery store will receive a $250,000 Community Development Investment grant to help with renovation costs. Owners Kassi and Brian Blanchette are looking forward to serving residents in the area with local products. The city hopes that the new grocery story will bring customers back to downtown businesses. Staple and Fancy is expected to open in early summer of 2025.
