Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler will not run for reelection, he announced Thursday. Wikler has led the state’s Democrats since 2019, and came in second in February in the race to lead the Democratic National Committee. His current term ends in June. A new party chair will be elected at the state party convention this June. Several candidates launched their campaigns to succeed Wikler shortly after he announced his decision to step down including former Democratic Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Devin Remiker.
