Portions of two Dubuque roads remain closed today for utility repairs following a hazardous incident Sunday that involved a downed power line, a vehicle fire and an underground gas leak. University Avenue is closed between Wilson Avenue and Air Hill Street until further notice. Additionally, Walnut Street is closed between Jefferson Street and University. Motorists should follow the posted detour or use a different route. The roads are closed following a Sunday incident involving a downed powerline, which started a vehicle fire, and ultimately led to the discovery of an underground gas leak. Throughout the incident, 25 fire department personnel responded to the scene. Crews remained on the scene until 6:59 p.m. Sunday.
