County K and Highway 151 intersection to close following fatal accidents

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be closing access to and from County Highway K and Highway 18/151. Wisconsin DOT representatives, along with Iowa County officials and leaders, met on Tuesday morning to discuss the dangers of the Highway 151/County K intersection. The intersection outside of Barneveld has been the scene of two deadly crashes in just over two weeks. The tragedy of the crashes encouraged leaders and community members to push for change. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be closing access to and from County Highway K and Highway 18/151. Wisconsin DOT plans to close access to and from 151 over the next week, with permanent signage posted within two weeks. The DOT hopes to create a long-term solution to make the intersections safer. Until then, WisDOT hopes to redirect traffic to safer interchanges like the Industrial Drive overpass.
