An event this weekend will support three firefighters who were injured battling a grass fire last month in Jo Daviess County. The benefit for Elizabeth Fire Protection District First Assistant Chief Rob Pearce, firefighter Trent Breed and probationary firefighter Troy Vail will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Hanover Fire Department. Elizabeth firefighters provided mutual aid April 8 for a grass fire on South Rush Road with Hanover Fire Protection District. The three firefighters were injured while conducting ground operations and airlifted for treatment of burns. The benefit event includes a pork dinner, a bag tournament, live music, a bake sale, 50/50 raffles and a silent auction. The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under.
